Blogging For Beginners Email Course

Welcome to day 1 of the Blogging For Beginners Email Course!

Let’s roll up our sleeves.

Remember in the previous email when I said ‘Laying the foundation to your blog is such a pivotal step towards your goals’? Well, the very first step is creating the groundwork for that foundation. This sets the stage for your entire blog.

1. Why do you want to blog?

Take out a piece of paper or open up a document and hash this out. Write out the things you’d like to accomplish with your blog, even if they seem too scary to reveal in black and white. Dig deep and find that why within you. Take this step seriously and you will set a solid structure for the success of your blog.

The reason you want to blog is vital because this reason will be your drive. There are many bloggers in the world and it’s not the easiest gig to choose but you can and will do this if you have a good ‘why’. If your reasoning is simply a wish then it’s very likely you will fade out. However, if your reason has drive behind it then when you get frustrated (and you will) you will plow forward!

If your reason is a wish or an “I don’t know”, then try to push yourself out of that thinking. You can do this for sure! Don’t listen to the doubts and fear. Try this method: instead of listening to your brain, tell your brain what to think. Halt the mental cycle of disbelieve and force your thoughts towards certainty, assurance, encouragement, and positivity even if it seems false.

You’ve got this. Moving on.

2. Is blogging right for you?

Blogging takes patience, stamina, drive and a willingness to learn. If you don’t have some or all of these attributes are you willing to learn?

Let’s take a look at some questions to determine if blogging is right for you:

  • Are you a decent writer or are you willing to learn?
  • Are you a self-starter?
  • Are you up to writing 1000s of words a week or more?
  • Do you have the ability to write for other people’s needs and help them rather than writing about just what you want?

If you said yes to these questions, then you’re in the right place. If you said no or maybe not, then try to be open to learning.

3. Believe in yourself and make the leap.

You may feel doubt, fear or uneasy about starting a blog. The bottom line is that you absolutely can do this. Tell yourself that you can and revisit your why even if it’s just to see where this blogging thing goes. You will not succeed if you do not take risks!

Starting a blog may feel like taking a free falling leap. I felt that way for sure! But this week, you are not alone.

Let’s take that leap. You’ve got this.
